El colibrí estrella de pico largo o Picolargo coroniazúl (Heliomaster longirostris) fué registrado por Audebert y Vieillot en 1801. Su distribución comprende México, Guatemala, Belice, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panamá, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Brasil, Guayana Francesa, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela y Trinidad y Tobago. Su hábitat natural son los bosques secos subtropicales o tropicales, bosques de tierras bajas húmedas subtropicales o tropicales, matorrales húmedos subtropicales o tropicales, pastizales y antiguos bosques muy degradados. De pico a cola mide entre 11 y 12 centímetros.

Its distribution includes, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, French Guiana, Surinam, Guyana, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical lowland moist forests, subtropical or tropical moist shrublands, pasturelands and heavily degraded former forests. From peak to tail it measures between 4.33 to 4.72 inches.

El Colibrí estrella encapotada o Colibrí picolargo o Colibrí pochotero (Heliomaster constantii) fué registrado por DeLattre en 1843. Su rango de distribución se extiende desde la Sierra madre occidental en México, hasta Costa Rica, aunque se han registrado avistamientos al extremo sur de Arizona en los E.U.A. Su hábitat es el dosel y los bordes de bosques secos, así como bosques secundarios viejos y sabanas arboladas. De pico a cola mide entre 12 y 13 cm.

The Plain-capped Starthroat (Heliomaster constantii) was registered by DeLattre in 1843. Its distribution range extends from the Sierra Madre Occidental in México to Costa Rica, although there have been sightings to extreme southern Arizona in the U.S.A. Its natural habitat is the canopy and the edges of dry forests and old secondary forests and savannah woodlands. From peak to tail it measures between 4.72 to 5.12 in.
