Eriocnemis mirabilis

La Coqueta maravillosa o Calzoncitos de munchique (Eriocnemis mirabilis) es un colibrí endémico de Colombia el cual, fué registrado por Meyer de Schauensee en 1967. Su hábitat natural son los bosques semitropicales en una región muy pequeña ubicada entre el rio Patía al noreste del Departamento de Nariño y el noroeste del Departamento de Cauca. Esta especie se encuentra en peligro debido a que el rango de su hábitat es muy reducido, por ésta razón fué incluida en el Apéndice II del CITES. De pico a cola mide 9 cm.

The Colorful puffleg (Eriocnemis mirabilis) is an endemic hummingbird of Colombia which was registered by Meyer de Schauensee in 1967. Its natural habitats are subtropical forests in a very small region located between the Patia River at northeast of Department of Nariño and the northwest of Department of Cauca. This species is endangered because it has a very small habitat range but that reason was included in the Appendix II of CITES. From peak to tail it measures 3.54 in.

Eriocnemis nigrivestis

El Zamarrito pechinegro o Colibrí pantalón chico (Eriocnemis nigrivestis) es endémico de Ecuador. Fué registrado por Bourcier y Mulsant en 1852. Su hábitat son los bosques montañosos de los Ándes Occidentales de la Reserva Natural Yanacocha. Desafortunadamente, ésta ave se encuentra en peligro crítico, por lo cual, se encuentra incluida en el Apéndice II del CITES. De pico a cola mide 9 cm.

The Black-breasted puffleg (Eriocnemis nigrivestis) is endemic to Ecuador. It was registered by Bourcier and Mulsant in 1852. Its habitat is the mountainous forests of the western Andes in the Yanachocha Natural Reserve. Unfortunately, this bird is critically endangered, thus, is included in the Appendix II of CITES. From peak to tail it measures 3.54 in.

Eriocnemis isabellae

El llamado "Zamarrito del Pinche" (Eriocnemis isabellae) fué descubierto en 2005 en la Serrania del Pinche en las montañas del bosque nuboso al suroeste de Colombia. Fué visto por los ornitólogos por primera vez en 2005, pero hasta el 2006 fué fotografíado . Sin embargo, no fué sino hasta el año de 2007, cuando el "Museo Zoológico de Investigación A. Koening" en Alemania, confirmó la información acerca del descubrimiento de la nueva especie y su registro fué otorgado a Cortes-Diago también en 2007. De pico a cola, ésta ave mide 8.9 cm.

The Gorgeted puffleg (Eriocnemis isabellae) was been discovered in 2005 in the Serrania del Pinche mountains in the cloud forest of south west Colombia. It was seen for first time by ornithologists in 2005, but is was photographed until 2006. However, was until 2007 when the "Zoological Reseach Museum A. Koenig" in Germany confirmed the information about the discovery of new species and its registration was given to Cortes-Diago also in 2007. From Peak to tail this bird measures about 3.5 inches.
