El Colibrí nuquiblanco o Colibrí de nuca blanca (Florisuga mellivora) fué registrada por Linnaeus en 1758 y puede ser encuentra desde México hásta Brasil y hacia el oeste, hasta Bolivia; sin embargo, también está presente en Aruba, Antillas Holandesas (Curazao y Bonaire), Trinidad y Tobago, San Vicente y las Granadinas, Barbados, Santa Lucia, Martinica, Dominica, Guadalupe, Montserrat, Antigua y Barbuda, San Cristobal y Nieves y Anguila. En Brasil, recibe el nombre de "Beija flor azul da cauda branca" (Besa flor azul de rabo blanco). De pico a cola ésta ave mide aproximadamente 11 cm.

The White-necked Jacobin (Florisuga mellivora) was registered by Linnaeus in 1758 and it can be found from Mexico to Brazil and westward until Bolivia, however it is present in Aruba, Netherland Antilles (Curaçao and Bonaire),, Trinidad and Tobago, St Vicent and the Grenadines, Barbados, St Lucia, Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Montserrat, Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis and Anguilla. In Brazil it called "Beija flor azul da cauda branca" (Blue flower-kisser of white-tail). From peak to tail this bird measures approximately 4.33 inches.

El Colibrí negro o "Mainumby Hu" como es nombrado en guaraní (Florisuga fusca o Florisuga fuscus) fué registrado por Vieillot en 1817. Es una especie sudamericana cuyo hábitat natural son las llanuras de las selvas subtropicales y tropicales sobre todo en el bosque atlántico del este de Brasil, Uruguay, este de Paraguay y al noreste de Argentina. De pico a cola ésta ave mide aproximadamente 15 centímetros.

It is a sudamerican species whose natural habitat is the plains of subtropical and tropical forests, especially in the Atlantic Forest of eastern Brazil, Uruguay, eastern Paraguay, and far north-eastern Argentina. From peak to tail this bird measures approximately 5.9 inches.
