Campylopterus ensipennis

El Ala de sable de cola blanca o Colibrí coliblanco (Campylopterus ensipennis) fué registrado por Swainson en 1822. Su distribución comprende una región costera muy pequeña en Venezuela, así como Trinidad y Tobago. Su hábitat natural son los bosques húmedos de tierras bajas subtropicales o tropicales, bosques húmedos de montaña subtropicales o tropicales y plantaciones. Debido a que el área de distribución donde vive es muy pequeña, ésta ave desafortunadamente, se encuentra en peligro. De pico a cola mide 14 cm.

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical lowland moist forest, subtropical or tropical montane moist forest and plantations. El Ala de sable tijereta ó Colibrí ruiseñor o Fandanguero cola de cuña (Campylopterus curvipennis o Campylopterus pampa) fué registrado por el biólogo Alemán Ferdinan Deppe en 1830. Su hábitat natuaral son las vegetaciones semideciduas típicas de los bosques latifoliados, bosques húmedos tropicales o subtropicales, bosques de tierras bajas y zonas que fueron boscosas y que ahora estan muy degradadas. Su distribución se extiende desde el sureste de México hasta Honduras. De pico a cola mide 13 cm.

The Wedge-tailed sabrewing or Nightingale hummingbird or Wedge-tailed fandanguero (Campylopterus curvipennis or Campylopterus pampa) was registred by the German biologist Ferdinan Deppe in 1830. Its natural habitats are the deciduous vegetation of the broad-leaved forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest. Its distribution extends from southern Mexico to Honduras. From peak to tail it measures 5.11 in.

El colibrí ala de sable colilargo o Fandanguero de cola larga (Campylopterus excellens) fué registrado por Wetmore en 1941. Es una especie endémica de México. Algunos ornitólogos lo consideran como una subespecie derivada del "Campylopterus Curvipennis" pero es mas grande y posee una cola más larga. Su hábitat natural son los bosques húmedos circundantes a la región del Itzmo de Tehuantepéc en Oaxaca y Chiapas, la Sierra de los Tuxtlas al sureste de Veracruz e incluso hay registros al noroeste de Tabasco. De pico a cola ésta ave mide 14 cm.

The Long-tailed sabrewing or Long-tailed fandanguero (Campylopterus excellens) was registered by Wetmore in 1941. Its an Mexican endemic hummingbird species. Some ornithologists considered it a subspecies derived of the "Campylopterus Curvipennis" but is larger and it have a longer tailed. Its natual habitat are the humid forest in the region around the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca and Chiapas, the Sierra de los Tuxtlas in south east Veracruz and also there are records at north west of Tabasco. From peak to tail this bird measures 5.51 in.

Es una ave endémica de los sistemas montañosos centrales y del litoral Pacífico del sureste de México, Guatemala y el Salvador. Por ello también es conocido como: Ala de sable Rufo o Fandanguero Rojizo. De pico a cola, mide 12.5 cm.

The Mexican red hummingbird or Rufous sabrewing (Campylopterus rufus) was registered by Lesson in 1840. It is an endemic bird of the central montainous and southeastern Pacific coast of Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador. Thus is also known as: Ala de sable Rufus (Wing-saber rufus) or Fandanguero rojizo (red partying). From peak to tail it measures 4.92 inches.
