El Colibrí lucifer o Colibrí horroroso (Calothorax lucifer) fué registrado por Swainson en 1827. Su hábitat natural son los desiertos y zonas áridas con agaves y matorrales. Su distribución comprende desde el suroeste de los E.U.A. -desde el suroeste de Texas, suoroeste de Nuevo México, suroeste de Arizona- hasta el norte y centro de Mexico a lo largo de la Sierra Madre Occidental. De pico a cola miden 10 cm.

The Lucifer hummingbird or Lucifer sheartail (Calothorax lucifer) was registered by Swainson in 1827. Its natural hábitat are the desets and arid areas with agave plants and shrubs. Its distribution includes the southwestern U.S.A. -from southwest Texas extreme southwestern New Mexico, extreme southwestern Arizona- to the northern and central of Mexico a long the Sierra Madre Occidental. From peak to tail it measures 3.94 in.

El Colibrí precioso o Tijereta oaxaqueña o Colibrí oaxaqueño (Calothorax pulcher) fué registrado en 1859 por Poulchra Gould. Es una especie endémica de México cuyo hábitat natural son las zonas áridas y campos abiertos. Esta ave sólo puede ser encontrada al sureste del País, específicamente en los Estados de Guerrero, Morelos, Puebla, Oaxaca y Chiapas. De pico a cola mide 9 cm.

The Beautiful hummingbird or Oaxaca's sheartail or Oaxaca's hummingbird (Calothorax pulcher) was registred by Poulchra Gould in 1859. It is a Mexican endemic species whose natual habitats are the arid areas and open fields. This bird is found only at the southest of the Country, specifically en the States of Guerrero, Morelos, Puebla, Oaxaca and Chiapas. From peak to tail it measures 3.54 in.
