
The Venezuelan Sylph (Aglaiocercus berlepshi) is endemic of Venezuela. It was registered by Hartert in 1898. This bird is considered a subspecies of "Aglaiocercus Kingii" by some ornithologists. Its natural habitat is the coastal slopes in scrub and forest of the subtropical montane zone (up to 5,900 ft) at the Cordillera de la Costa in Sucre and Cerro Negro. An important fact of this bird is that the tail feathers of males reach measure between 5.51-5.90 inches as opposed to females which measure between 3.74 and 4.33 in. From peak to tail it measures around 8.66 in.
