The Long-tailed sabrewing or Long-tailed fandanguero (Campylopterus excellens) was registered by Wetmore in 1941. Its an Mexican endemic hummingbird species. Some ornithologists considered it a subspecies derived of the "Campylopterus Curvipennis" but is larger and it have a longer tailed. Its natual habitat are the humid forest in the region around the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Oaxaca and Chiapas, the Sierra de los Tuxtlas in south east Veracruz and also there are records at north west of Tabasco. From peak to tail this bird measures 5.51 in.
