El Tucusito coludo chico, (Ramphomicron microrhynchum) fué registrado por Boissonneau en 1839 y es el colibrí que posee el pico más pequeño -apenas 5 mm-. Esta ave es nativa de Sudamérica y puede ser encontrada en Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia y Perú. En inglés se le conoce como "Purple backed thornbill" (colibrí de lomo púrpura). De pico a cola ésta ave mide aproximadamente 8 cm.The Purple-backed thornbill, (Rampomicron microrhynchum) was registered by Boissonneau in 1839 and it is the hummingbird that has the smallest peak - just 0.19 inches-.
