
The Scissor-tailed hummingbird (Hylonympha macrocerca) is endemic of Venezuela. It was registered by Gould in 1873. It is the only member of the genus Hylonympha. Its natural habitat is the montaine evergreen forest of the coastal mountains of Paria Peninsula in Sucre at north-east Venezuela. This bird is endangered, therefore, was included in the Appendix II of CITES. From peak to tail it measures between 7.09 to 8.66 in.
