El Colibrí negro o "Mainumby Hu" como es nombrado en guaraní (Florisuga fusca o Florisuga fuscus) fué registrado por Vieillot en 1817. Es una especie sudamericana cuyo hábitat natural son las llanuras de las selvas subtropicales y tropicales sobre todo en el bosque atlántico del este de Brasil, Uruguay, este de Paraguay y al noreste de Argentina.
