
The White-throated hummingbird or "Beija flor de papo blanco" as it's know in Portuguese (Leucochloris albicollis) was registered by Vieilliot in 1818 and it is the only member of the Leucochloris genus. It is distributed from southeastern Brazil from the Department of Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul, southern Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina from Misiones, Corrientes, Entre Rios to the Department of Buenos Aires. From peak to tail this bird measures 3.15 inches.
