El Colibrí verdecito o Beija flor de garganta azul como es conocido en portugués (Chlorestes notata or Chlorostilbon notatus) fué registrado por G. C. Reich en 1793 y es el único miembro del género Chlorestes. Su hábitat natural son las selvas lluviosas, selvas de galería y vegetación decidua. Su distribución comprende el norte de Perú, este de Ecuador, noreste de Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad y Tobago, Guyana, Surinam, Guayana Francesa y Brasil a lo largo de la cueca principal del Rio Amazonas, al igual que a lo largo de la región costera del Oceano Atlántico que va desde el Departamento de Amapa hasta Rio de Janeiro. De pico a cola mide 9 cm.
The Blue-chinned sapphire or Beija flor de garganta azul as is known in Portuguese (Chlorostilbon notata or Chlorestes notatus) was registered by G. C. Reich in 1793 and it is the only member of the Chlorestes genus. Their natural habitat is the rainforests, gallery forests and deciduous vegetation. Its distribution includes northern Peru, eastern Ecuador, northeastern Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana and Brazil along the main Amazon River basin as well as along the coastal Altantic Ocean, from the Department of Amapa to Rio de Janeiro. From peak to tail it measures 3.54 in.
