El Mango común o Picaflor vientre negro o Beija flor de veste preta como es conocido en portugués (Anthracothorax nigricollis) fué registrado por Vieillot en 1817. Su hábitat natural son las selvas lluviosas, selvas de galería y vegetación secundaria. Su distribución comprende Panamá, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Trinidad y Tobago, Guyana, Surinam, Guayana Francesa, Brasil, este de Perú, norte de Bolivia, este de Paraguay, norte de Uruguay y en Argentina los Departamentos de Misiones, Corrientes y Entre Rios. De pico a cola mide 11 cm.

It distribution includes Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana, Brazil, east of Peru, north of Bolivia, east of Paraguay, north of Uruguay and in Argentina, the Departments of Misiones, Corrientes and Entre Rios. From peak to tail it measures 4.33 in.
