El Colibrí tijereta (Hylonympha macrocerca) es endémico de Venezuela. Fué registrado por Gould en 1873. Es el único miembro del género Hylonympha. Su hábitat natural son los bosques montañosos siempre verdes de las Costas de la Península de Paria en Sucre al noroeste de Venezuela. Esta ave se encuentra en peligro, por lo cual, fué incluida en el Apéndice II del CITES. De pico a cola mide entre 18 y 22 cm.The Scissor-tailed hummingbird (Hylonympha macrocerca) is endemic of Venezuela. It was registered by Gould in 1873. It is the only member of the genus Hylonympha. Its natural habitat is the montaine evergreen forest of the coastal mountains of Paria Peninsula in Sucre at north-east Venezuela. This bird is endangered, therefore, was included in the Appendix II of CITES. From peak to tail it measures between 7.09 to 8.66 in.
