La Esmeralda Puertorriqueña o Zumbadorcito (Chlorostilbon maugaeus) fué registrado por Audebert y Vieillot en 1801. Es un colibrí endémico el cual sólo se encuentra en el archipiélago de Puerto Rico. Su hábitat natural son los bosques tropicales y subtropicales, manglares y jardines que se encuentran al rededor de toda la Isla. Esta especie formaba parte de una súperespecie junto con el "Chlorostilbon ricordii" y el "Chlorostilbon swainsonii" los cuales formaban el género "Riccordia". Una característica importante de esta especie es que presenta un dismorfismo sexual en cuanto a su coloración.. De pico a cola mide ente 9 y 11 cm. The Puerto Rican emerald (Chlorostilbon maugaeus) was registered by Audebert & Vieillot in 1801. Its an endemic hummingbird found only in the archipelago of Puerto Rico. Their natural habitat are the tropical and subtropical forests, the mangroves and gardens around the whole island. It was a part of a superspecies with the "Chlorostilbon ricordii" and the "Chlorostilbon swainsonii", and these three formerly separated in genus "Riccordia". An important feature of this species is that this species presents a sexual dimorphism in their coloration.. From peak to tail it measures between 3.54 to 4.33 in.
