El Colibrí magenta o Estrellita gorgimorada o Colibrí estrella de garganta violeta (Calliphlox bryantae) fué registrado por Lawrence en 1867. Su hábitat natural son los linderos de los bosques, pastizales y áreas parcialmente despejadas con arbustos y matorrales. Su distribución comprende toda Costa Rica y Panamá (desde la frontera hasta la Ciudad de Santiago). De pico a cola mide 9 cm.The Magenta-throated woodstar or Costa Rican woodstar (Calliphlox bryantae) was registered by Lawrence in 1867. Its natural habitat are the forests edges, pastures and partially cleared areas with scrub and bushes. Its distribution includes all of Costa Rica and Panama (from the border to the City of Santiago). From peak to tail it measures 3.54 in.
