
The Mexican red hummingbird or Rufous sabrewing (Campylopterus rufus) was registered by Lesson in 1840. It is an endemic bird of the central montainous and southeastern Pacific coast of Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador. Thus is also known as: Ala de sable Rufus (Wing-saber rufus) or Fandanguero rojizo (red partying). From peak to tail it measures 4.92 inches.
