El Zumbador rufo o La Chispita rufa (Selasphorus rufus) fué registrada por Gmelin en 1788. Anida en Alaska, Canadá y EUA donde pasa la mayor parte del tiempo. En invierno migra hacia el sur hacia el noroeste y centro de México y en la costa del Golfo de México en E.U.A., desde Texas hasta la Florida así como en las Islas Turcas y Caicos y Bahamas. De pico a cola mide 8.4 centímetros. The Rufous hummingbird (Selasphorus rufus) was registered by Gmelin en 1788. It nest in Alaska, Canada and U.S.A., where it spends most of the time. In winter it migrates south to the northwest and central Mexico and on the Gulf of Mexico in the USA from Texas to Florida as well as Turks and Caicos Islands and Bahamas. From peak to tail it measures 3.30 inches.
