El Colibrí garganta roja o Colibrí garganta rubí o Colibrí gorgirrubí (Archilochus colubris o Archilochus colubrisel) fué registrado por Linnaeus en 1758. Es un colibrí que anida regularmente en las márgenes del río Misisipi en los E.U.A., Su hábitat son los bosques deciduos y de pinos, así como los bordes forestales del centro hacia la costa este de los E.U.A., el sur de Canadá, San Pedro y Miquelón y Bermudas. Una característica importante de ésta ave es que realiza migraciones hacia el sur del continente pasando la mayor parte del invierno en México, Centroamérica y las Antillas. De pico a cola mide 8 cm.

It's a hummingbird wich regularly neast on the Mississippi banks river in the U.S.A., Its habitat is the deciduous pine forests and edges forest from the center to the east coast of U.S.A., Southern Canada, Saint Pierre and Miquelon and Bermuda. An important feature of this bird is that it migrates to the south of the Continent from most of the winter in Mexico, Central America and the Antilles. From peak to tail it measures 3.15 in.
